Mother's Day Celebration

How did you celebrate Mother's Day today? Mine was dull because mom and dad cancelled their plans to drive up to KL. Dad was not feeling well plus he had a toothache today. After chasing hubby and Ammar to take their bath, we finally started our journey to IKEA around 10am.

We wanted to try out their 99 cent nasi lemak. Memang worth the money. On top of that, if you're an IKEA friends, you'll get discount for the Daim cake and coffee. I tell you, the Daim cake memang marvellous! They even sold it as a full cake at the little store near checkouts. Price? RM24 per box but worth it laa....Hubby can't resist the cake so that's why we went there for our bfast today.

We went home after jalan-jalan di Curve and Ikano. There's a new makan place di Ikano bernama Bubba Gump Shrimp. Best ooo merchandise shop dia. They used Forrest Gump's famous tagline "My momma said..like is like a box full of chocolates" on their tshirts. Cap Run Forrest Run pun ada. It was fully booked today.

I came across this article :

"The country’s first Bubba Gump Shrimp Co restaurant at The Curve in Mutiara Damansara, Petaling Jaya, is largely about atmosphere in an impressive, two-storey affair reminiscent of a wooden cabin.

Lots of old wood has been used to capture the down-to-earth warmth of American southern charm and the essence of an American diner. You can read more Gumpisms off the glazed table tops. You may wonder about licence plates on the table. The blue plate reads “Run, Forrest, Run”, When you want service, flip this over to show the red sign, “Stop, Forrest, Stop”. The drinks menu is a ping-pong paddle chained to the table and there’s a bucket filled with bottled sauces.

Operated by NZ Diners, the restaurant marks the first foray into the food business by the Naza Group Of Companies that’s synonymous with the car trade.

Its CEO, SM Nasarudin Tan Sri Datuk Seri Utama SM Nasimuddin, says the aim is to let Malaysians enjoy quality seafood in a casual and fun atmosphere, just the way Forrest Gump and his “best good friend” Bubba created it.

Bubba Gump Shrimp Co restaurant is inspired by the 1994 Tom Hanks film, Forrest Gump. The Malaysian outlet is the 32nd for Bubba Gump Shrimp Co which has franchises all over the world including Indonesia, Mexico, Hong Kong, The Philippines and Japan.

But ambience aside, you can get a decent meal here. Seafood is the order of the day. Shrimps dominate — from appetisers to specials — as Bubba says in the film, “shrimp is the fruit of the sea. You can barbecue it, boil it, broil it, bake it, sautee it”."

May be one day, i'll dine there and write about it. The price reminds me of Manhattan's Fish.

After meeting up with my parents (to hantar balik Danial) di Senawang around 7pm, we headed to nenek's place in Sungai Penchala for Mother's Day gathering. Only my parents and Uncle Man were not there. Cousins pun ramai yang tidak hadir. Anaz dah di Kuching, Dila di Penang, Iklil di Melaka. So, korum tak berapa cukup tahun ni. Tak rasa kemeriahan seperti biasa. Dunno why. Ambience tak seperti dulu. Oh, dah lama tak pi rumah nenek. So surprised tengok ada traffic light and jalan di kampung pun dah luas. Must often balik kampung lepas ni. I promised Satuni and nenek to bring along the notty cicit next weekend. Told aunties and nenek what Danial said to Anum when they fought last weekend. This was his exact words, " Nakal laa dia nih. Macam budak kampung!"...hahahaha..sapa laa sebenarnyer budak kampung nih?

I ate 4 cucuk sate only. Now, lapar giler. A neighbour lost his son 2 days ago. The funeral will took place esok. His son was in coma after kes ragut in 2006. 2 days ago he caught viral fever and passed away. Today i learnt something about Chinese/Buddhist culture. They will tie a red ribbon at their neighbour's gate to shoo away bad demons. I text Mei Ling to inquire about this (saw the red ribbon on our way out this morning) and she told me about it.

The boy was his youngest son. Pity that uncle. We always hihi and byebye tiap pagi when i tutup gate before i leave for work. He will always at the same time every morning pi 7-11 dekat rumah beli paper. Somehow, i am glad he did that routine. At least ada orang lain di jalanan. Tak ler cuak sangat kuar pagi sorang-sorang.

Time to tido now. Another new week tomorrow. Oh, esok ada meeting....Aiyoooo
